Salvation Army and COVID -19 Response
Salvation Army COVID-19 Response Emergency Food Home Delivery Service
In response to COVID-19, the Salvation Army of Port Chester set up an emergency food drive and food delivery to homebound residents. Volunteers from the Rye Brook Port Chester COVID Helpers, including, Michael Goldstein of PCRB Rotary Club, collected, packed, and delivered food boxes for 16 weeks. Within the first week of setting up the food delivery service, the Salvation Army went from serving 50 families to over 300 families.
In May, Captain Margaret Quatela of the Salvation Army, Briggitte Dix of the Rye Brook Port Chester COVID19 Helpers, and Rotarians, Kenny, Jerry, Roman, and Michael sat down with Westchester Talk Radio and Sharc Creative to record a podcast discussing the COVID-19 Emergency Food Home Delivery Service and partnerships between the different organizations. The PCRB Rotary Club presented the Salvation Army with a $5,000 donation to the Food Drive and recognizes the tremendous work the Salvation Army is doing for the community.
